About the Texas Night Sky Festival®

Held in Dripping Springs, the first International Dark Sky Community in Texas, the Texas Night Sky Festival® is a free-to-attend celebration of the Texas Night Sky!

The Festival promotes the appreciation, protection and enjoyment of one of the Earth’s most beautiful and natural resources – the night sky - and the starlit, natural environment that most forms of life depend upon at night. Join us for a fun, educational and relaxed day with your family and friends.

This one-of-a kind event for all of Texas provides a unique opportunity to learn about and increase awareness of the need for natural darkness. Highlights include: Three mobile planetariums, the Dark Sky and Midnight Defenders patch programs, safe solar viewing during the daylight hours, a star-gazing party after dark, live music, food trucks, vendors, silent auction, live story-telling, interactive exhibits and much more.

It all happens on March 30, 2019 at the Dripping Springs Ranch Park and Event Center from Noon – 11:00 p.m.

The next day, Sunday, March 31, 2019, night sky advocates are invited to participate in a workshop led by the International Dark-Sky Association. You will network with other advocates, get tips on protecting the night sky in your community, and learn the details about how to help your local park or community become an International Dark Sky Place.
