Carl Sagan, astronomer, cosmologist and astrophysicist, said it like this:

The nitrogen in our DNA, 
the calcium in our teeth,
the iron in our blood, 
the carbon in our apple pies
were made in the interiors of collapsing stars. 
We are made of starstuff.

Carl Sagan wrote many popular science books including Cosmos, which won the Hugo Award for Best Non-Fiction book in 1981 and co-wrote the award-winning and most widely watched series in the history of public television, Cosmos: A Personal Voyage. A professor at Cornell and long-time advisor to NASA, Sagan was renowned for his ability to explain complex scientific ideas to the general public.

Then there was John Lennon, legendary Beatles rock star, who said it like this:

We all shine on… 
like the moon and the stars and the sun.

Actually, he wrote and sang the song “Instant Karma...”
