The Dripping Springs Farmers Market is celebrating ten years of operation. In recognition of their anniversary, City Council has proclaimed June 2019 as “Farmers Market Month.” Established in 2007, the Dripping Springs Farmers Market was created to provide the city and the surrounding central Texas region with locally grown foods and farm products.
Held every Wednesday at Veterans Memorial Park (also known as “The Triangle”) from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., the rain or shine market serves diverse populations, preserves and promotes regional agriculture, and improves our quality of life.
Last year, the Dripping Springs Farmers Market was named the number one farmers market in Texas by the American Farmland Trust and number seven in the United States for the following categories: Focus on Farmers, People’s Choice, Healthy Food for All, Champion for the Environment, and Pillar of the Community.
On Wednesday, June 26, all are invited to attend “Tomato Time!” a special event in addition to the market that celebrates all things tomato. It will be held at the same location as the market. The event entails a contest and features locally home grown, vine ripe tomatoes of all kinds. Attendees can taste and vote for the best tomatoes.
The Dripping Springs Farmers Market is certified with the Texas Department of Agriculture and is overseen by an eight-member Farmers Market Association Board. For more information about the market, please visit http://www.cityofdrippingsprings.com/page/fm.home.
