Dripping Springs Hometown Festival Returns! 16th Annual Christmas on Mercer Is Set for Saturday, December 5
08/19/2020

DRIPPING SPRINGS, TEXAS, August 20, 2020 – One of Dripping Springs favorite events is returning this holiday season: the 16th Annual Christmas on Mercer returns on Saturday, December 5.

Hosted by the City of Dripping Springs and Dripping Springs Lions Club, visitors once again will see the downtown area transformed into a winter wonderland of brilliant illumination, holiday sales, and Christmas cheer.

The Organizers know that now, more than ever, the City needs to feel the spirit of the season. They also know it needs to be SAFE for all those visiting. So, it will be a simpler and safer Christmas on Mercer, but still just as festive:

  • Christmas on Mercer will be held in downtown Dripping Springs on Saturday, December 5, 2020, 10am to 5pm. Admission is free.
  • The all-day celebration will have arts/crafts and business vendor booths, but there will be fewer vendor booths sold. This way, organizers can space them out to make shopping safe and ensure that CDC and State guidelines will be followed.
  • Visitors will feel the full spirit of the season with holiday music filling the air. While there will be no live music, there will be plenty of holiday music and Christmas carols piped in throughout the area.
  • While Santa will not be there due to social distancing at the North Pole, a special mail box to Santa will be available for letters to Santa and children will receive a letter from Santa in return. There will also be a photo-op-wall, where visitors can take a fun snapshot or create a family photo for their Christmas cards.
  • The old time favorite trackless train and pony rides will be on hand, disinfected before each use.
  • Local downtown businesses will create a festive atmosphere with added fun for all.
  • The City will continue to monitor the regulations set by the CDC and the State of Texas and ensure we abide by all safety precautions to keep our community safe.

The evening portion will include a virtual version of the beloved town tree lighting at dusk with caroling and more. Virtually, every Dripping Springs resident will be able to watch the festivities with their family, sipping hot cocoa from their comfy home.

Event sponsors are needed. Sponsorships are available at various levels of support. All of the money raised will pay for the event or go back to the community through various Lions Club programs. Admission to the festival is free because of the many sponsors and donors who generously provide festival security, sanitation, barricades, trash pick-up, and other services for the event.

Interested arts and crafts vendors can download applications with instructions on the City’s website to reserve a 10’ x 10’ booth. The booth fee is $100. Electricity is provided at request. Because space is limited this year, vendors will be selected to ensure a balanced selection of fun holiday items and gifts.

Sponsorship and vendor application forms can also be found on the City's website. Click on the events tab and choose Christmas on Mercer or go here: Christmas on Mercer.
