  • NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING FOR A ZONING MAP AMENDMENT APPLICATION CASE#: ZA2020-0006 

    Public hearings will be held at the City of Dripping Springs Planning and Zoning Commission meeting on October 27, 2020 and Dripping Springs City Council on November 10, 2020 at Dripping Springs City Hall, 511 Mercer Street, Dripping Springs Texas, to consider a proposed zoning map amendment for Tracts 1 and 2 are requesting to rezone from Single Family-4 (SF4) to Single Family-5 (SF5) which are generally located northwest of the intersection of Bluff Street and Hays Street, within the Hays Street Historic District.

    The proposed zoning amendment application is available for viewing at Dripping Springs City Hall, 511 Mercer Street, during regular business hours: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. If City Hall is closed to visitors during this period, you can request review of any documents by emailing planning@cityofdrippingsprings.com. If City Hall is closed to visitors on the day of the meeting, or the meeting is virtual for another reason, the City will post this information on its website at www.cityofdrippingsprings.com so that the public may have access to the meeting. Comments regarding this project may be emailed to planning@cityofdrippingsprings.com or mailed to PO Box 384, Dripping Springs, TX 78620.  Comments received by August 20, 2020 will be included in agenda packets for the meetings.     City Hall offices are currently closed to walk-in traffic due to state and local orders related to COVID-19. However, to better serve the citizens of Dripping Springs, the City Council will hold the Public Hearing for the 2020 Ad Valorem Tax Rate at City Hall. Those wishing to participate in person will be queued outside City Hall and allowed to enter when the item is presented. Participants are required to wear a face covering when entering City Hall. Upon completion of the City Council’s action participants will be asked to exit the building.     NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON TAX INCREASE

    A tax rate of $ 0.1900 per $100 valuation has been proposed by the governing body of the City of Dripping Springs, Texas.

    PROPOSED TAX RATE                                                                               0.1900 per $100

    NO-NEW REVENUE TAX RATE                                                               0.1850 per $100

    VOTER-APPROVAL REVENUE TAX RATE                                            0.2077 per $100

    The no-new-revenue tax rate is the tax rate for the 2020 tax year that will raise the same amount of property tax revenue for the City of Dripping Springs from the same properties in both the 2019 tax year and the 2020 tax year.

    The voter-approval rate is the highest tax rate that the City of Dripping Springs may adopt without holding an election to seek voter approval of the rate.

    The proposed tax rate is greater than the no-new-revenue tax rate.  This means that the City of Dripping Springs is proposing to increase property taxes for the 2020 tax year.

    A PUBLIC HEARING ON THE PROPOSED TAX RATE WILL BE HELD ON SEPTEMBER 8, 2020 AT 6:30 P.M. AT CITY HALL – 511 MERCER STREET – DRIPPING SPRINGS, TEXAS OR VIRTUALLY AS SHOWN ON THE CITY WEBSITE www.cityofdrippingsprings.com.   THE PUBLIC IS INVITED TO ATTEND THE HEARING AT CITY HALL IN PERSON IF DESIRED. 

    The proposed tax rate is not greater than the voter-approval tax rate.  As a result, the City of Dripping Springs is not required to hold an election at which voters may accept or reject the proposed tax rate.  However, you may express your support or opposition the proposed tax rate by contacting the members of the City Council of the City of Dripping Springs at their officers or by attending the public hearing mentioned above.

    YOUR TAXES OWED UNDER ANY OF THE TAX RATES MENTIONED ABOVE CAN BE CALCULATED AS FOLLOWS:

    The 86th Legislature modified the manner in which the voter-approval tax rate is calculated to limit the rate of growth of property taxes in the state.

  • The COVID-19 Disaster Relief Program for Businesses is designed to help local businesses affected by the coronavirus. and includes the following help for local businesses:

    • Wastewater Fee Waivers:
      The City will waive one month of wastewater fees for commercial properties. Businesses must apply by June 26, 2020. Applications can be found here: Disaster Relief Wastewater Application for Website.pdf

    • Inspection/Permits Discount:
      A one-time 25% discount will be given on permit or inspection renewals, including food establishment permits,
      child/adult care, church and school establishment Inspections, and alcohol beverage permits. This is for renewals for existing businesses only and must be requested at time of renewal.

    • Additional Temporary Signs and Fee Waivers:
      Temporary Sign Permit Fees are waived until September 30, 2020. The City will also allow one additional temporary sign through September 30, 2020, on all properties in Dripping Springs.


    The COVID-19 Disaster Relief Program for Businesses Resolution is in effect for a period of sixty days, commencing June 10, 2020, unless a different date is stated above for a particular waiver. The COVID-19 Disaster Relief Program for Businesses is not retroactive.
