Texas Night Sky Festival® Writing Contest

Art Created by Margaret Fraser

Inspired by the night sky, the wonders of nature after dark, or the need to reduce our artificial illumination of the out-of-doors? You are encouraged to express yourself with an entry in the Texas Night Sky Festival® Writing Contest.

The Festival Writing Contest is open for poetry and short story / essay entries from both youth and adults with a separate category for published authors. The entry deadline has been extended until January 21, 2017. Finalists will be notified at least one week prior to the March 18, 2017 Festival. Award winners will be announced and their winning entries read at the Festival. NightScape Magazine will publish the winning entries and they will be featured on the host organizations websites.

The Festival Writing Contest Team is delighted to announce that Naomi Shihab Nye, of San Antonio, is our juror who will select the award winners from the writing contest finalists. Nye is a multi-award-winning Palestinian-American Poet, Essayist & Educator. The Texas Night Sky Festival® is honored to have her participation.
