DRIPPING SPRINGS, TEXAS – May 5, 2017 – To address a safety concern on Sportsplex Drive, the City of Dripping Springs is currently exploring a grant opportunity from TXDOT’s Transportation Alternative Set-Aside Program. The grant program entails funding for projects that are limited to the construction of pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure projects in population areas less than 200,000.
If awarded grant money under this program, the City would use these funds to construct and connect existing sidewalks on the entire length of Sportsplex Drive from the Dripping Springs High School to U.S. 290.
Currently, pedestrians including students, walking to and from the High School along Sportsplex Drive, are walking in the grass of the road’s shoulders and even take to walking in the street during rain events when the ground is muddy.
Pursuing this project with the adequate funding, would result in safe walkways and separate vehicles and pedestrians along an increasingly busy roadway.
There are many more benefits to the proposed project and your input is needed. Dripping Springs area residents are invited to attend the following meetings in which the project is being discussed:
*Parks and Recreation Commission Meeting—May 8th, 6 p.m. at City Hall
*City Council Meeting—May 9th, 6:30 p.m. at City Hall
*City Council Meeting—May 16th, 6 p.m. at City Hall
