Historic Preservation Commission
The Historic Preservation Commission is a seven-member advisory commission responsible for making recommendations to the city council regarding the preservation of landmarks and historic districts within the city. The Commission is also responsible for surveying and maintaining an inventory of significant historic, architectural, and cultural landmarks and properties located in historic districts.
Commission members are appointed by the City Council at-large and preference is given to applicants that have an interest in the historic traditions of the City, and experience in the preservation of the historical character of the City. Specifically, the City Council seeks applicants from the following professions and interests: Architecture, History, Real Estate, Attorney, Historic Landmark Property Owner, Archeology, Geography, Anthropology, Planning & Zoning Commission member. The City Council shall also appoint a Historic Preservation officer that shall advise the Commission on historic preservation activities.
