Last night, the City Council extended the Disaster Declaration for the City of Dripping Springs. February 5, The Mayor and the Emergency Management Director determined that weather related conditions pose a significant threat of property damage and that there is an imminent threat of injury or loss of property resulting from icy weather conditions, damaged trees and landscaping, power outages, internet outages, and other related infrastructure due to the recent ice storm. That declaration was set to expire on February 12, 2023. The City Council extended it to cover any additional needs related to the storm.

What does issuing a Local Disaster Declaration mean for the City?

  • Informs the Governor that the City has used all of its resources and staff and still needs additional assistance due to the extent of the disaster.
  • Provides the City with state funds to cover unexpected expenses
  • Provides the City with additional staff and equipment.

What does this mean for residents and businesses?

  • Residents may be eligible for disaster relief funds and assistance from various non-profit organizations and federal agencies, but first step is reaching out to your homeowners, business or renters insurance.
