The Dripping Springs Farmers Market is moving to a new location on March 23, 2022: The Pound House Farmstead at Founders Memorial Park. The move will create a deeper connection between the iconic weekly Farmers Market and the heritage of the city, while at the same time provide more room for vendors, activities, and future growth.

Since 2009, the City of Dripping Springs has held its weekly Farmers Market at Veterans Memorial Park. In that time, the Market has seen sustained growth into a cultural centerpiece, so much so that it has been voted the #1 farmers market in Texas three of the last four years. The Pound House Farmstead has been the center of Dripping Springs’ heritage since the 1850’s; first as the original log cabin home of one of the town’s founding families, and in recent decades, as a history museum. Boards of both the Farmstead and the Farmers Market agreed that the location would be an ideal setting to hold events, including the weekly market, as it directly ties into the agrarian heritage of Dripping Springs.

Jenny Pack, the Executive Director of The Pound House Farmstead, says, “As a founding family of what is now Dripping Springs, the Pounds were at the hub of community life, opening their house and grounds to serve as a medical office and hospital, church sanctuary, schoolhouse, and social gathering place. Bringing the Dripping Springs Farmers Market to our Farmstead connects the history of our city with one of the city’s premier weekly events – it’s a perfect partnership.”

With the move, the Farmers Market will continue its weekly tradition of connecting residents with vendors who bring the freshest and healthiest homegrown produce, grass-fed and pasture-raised meats and eggs, freshly baked breads and homemade pies, regional honeys, handcrafted jellies and jams, natural soaps, and personal care products, delicious snacks and treats, one-of-a-kind crafts, and more.

"This is an exciting time. This move will not only benefit the vendors and their customers, but it gives the community more opportunities to learn about our heritage and the Farmstead,” says Gouri Johansen, Chair of the DSFM Committee. “I’m excited about the future for both parties by moving the Market to this beautiful setting. It’s perfect for vendors, shoppers, families and more.”

The move to its new location will provide ample room for everything that makes the Farmers Market special: the vendors, weekly musicians, picnic tables and more. It will also provide plenty of customer parking and allows for future expansion of the Market.

Per Farmers Market Manager Charlie Reed, “Like the City, the Farmers Market has seen sustained growth and that has strained our current location. The move gives the Market a pastoral setting with ample shade supplied by tall Live Oaks, surrounded by five acres of natural Hill Country beauty, with plenty of space for growth. Adding to its authentic rural ambiance, it’s within minutes of both Hwy 290 and RR 12, giving easy access to visitors, making it an ideal location for our Market.”

The Farmers Market will be at their new home starting every Wednesday, beginning March 23. The Pound House Farmstead is located adjacent to Founders Memorial Park off Founders Park Road and can be accessed via Ranch Road 12 North or via Rob Shelton Boulevard off 290. Market hours will be from 3:00 p.m. through 6:00 p.m.
